The Midwest Region Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund (MRLHSF) was established in 1999 to assist union members and signatory contractors in protecting their welfare on and off the jobsite. The Health and Safety Fund coordinates activities with Local Unions and signatory contractors to increase worker productivity and decrease worker injuries through the creation of a safe, healthier workplace. By coordinating health fairs, job site safety audits, education seminars, and other activities, the Midwest Region Laborers' Health and Safety Fund promotes awareness of workplace safety and healthy living.
The Fund also offers specialized training on issues of particular importance to the construction industry. In the tragic event that an accident does occur, the Fund provides critical incident stress debriefing and has established a scholarship for the children of Laborers killed or permanently disabled while on a job site.
MRLHSF was established to enhance jobsite safety and health and to improve the competitiveness of LIUNA signatory employers. Our Fund is managed by equal numbers of trustees from labor and management.
Working in conjunction with the Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund of North America, we provide safety and health information and training to our members and signatory employers. The Fund focuses on the following areas: Occupational Safety • Health Promotion • Health Care Cost Control • Workers Compensation
